	First signatories of the Global Compact in Ukraine

Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS Mr. Kalman MIZSEI paid a visit to Ukraine on 24-26 April, 2006. Mr. MIZSEI took part and addressed the participants of the International conference “Twenty years after Chornobyl Accident. Future”.

While in Ukraine Mr. MIZSEI along with UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Mr. Francis M. O’DONNELL had a chancr to meet the Ukrainian officials and leading economic experts to discuss the social and economic development of the country and UNDP support to this process.

On 25 April 2006 Mr. MIZSEI will officially launch the Global Compact in Ukraine along with leading Ukrainian and international business companies and organizations. The launch of the Global Compact in Ukraine follows on from a series of activities promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) organized by the UN system in Ukraine including a national survey of business’ attitudes to CSR in Ukraine, the executive level CSR and Global Compact Forum held in December 2005.
